Preparing for Christmas.

So, most of the gifts are purchased and wrapped. The tree is up and the card display is well on its way. This year I even did a special window decoration so I can spread the vibe to all the people walking by :)

I am still off work and waiting to see my consultant again. I am fed up of taking so much medication and fed up of going to the doctors and the hospital and I have major cabin fever. I have only been out of the house a handful of times. During this period of time, a family member has dies and a school friend has died and another friend of mine has had some very bad news and I feel awful for her. I don't understand why all this has to happen around Christmas. I guess the only good thing for me is that I am able to spend time at home around Christmas. It is my favorite time of year. Im just hoping Im not ill on Christmas day again. This year I have been unable to have my flu jab ad swine flu jab yet, as I have not been well enough for them :(

Anyway..... my blog should not purely be about negative stuff.

I have a few great prospects on the horizon, which I cannot talk about yet. But... I have my fingers crossed and I am hoping all goes well.

On Saturday I am having a proper roof put over the rabbit enclosure. Its currently secure but not rain proof, which is fine for them, as they can jump in and out of their hutches but bad for me, as I have to step out into the rain to feed, see and clean them out. So, as of Saturday, they will be rainproof :)

Once they are rain proof, Im going to decorate their area for Christmas and take some new pics of them and the guinea pigs :)

We have a new bun, who is currently living inside, as he is not well enough to go out with the others yet. He is a little grey lop called Edward. He arrived at work as a stray, he was covered in poo and he could not use his back legs at all. He is doing really well and slowly putting weight on. He was very skinny before. He has good days and bad days with his legs. He is generally improving though, as he is now able to stand on his back legs and put his paws up on the pen wall, which he could not do before. He is also able to clean himself more. At first we were having to bathe his bum every day, as he had a dicky tummy and he was unable to do any cleaning.

I shall take some pics of him soon too :)

Swayze has had an ear infection, so I took him to the vets (not work, as I was not well enough to travel there) and got some ear cleaner and some medicated ear drops. He actually seemed to like it when I put them in. I bet is was actually quite soothing for him.

I also found a website that I can buy flea treatments and wormers from and they are cheaper than even buying them from work at cost price :) I can also get prescription meds from them for an absolute fraction of the cost and their postage is quick and cheap! Wow. I never realised exactly how great these online 'pet pharmacy's' are :) I know it takes away money from the vet but really, who would pay such high prices when they can buy them alot cheaper somewhere else?? Its not nuclear science! Vets still make money from check ups, vaccines, operations, small procedures, home visits and emergency call outs.

Anyway, I am currently addicted to the TV series 24! Its great. Im completely hooked. I have gone through it so quickly, Im going to need the next series soon.

I have also seen Paranormal Activity and it so was not scary!! I was really looking forward to it because of its chilling reviews but no, it did not affect me!!

I really want to see New Moon and Where the Wild things are.

Some cute Christmassy Swayze pics. You can see our spangly tree in the background. You can also see Swayze's new jammies :) They are made of fleece and he does really like them. He actually lifts each leg up for me while I put them on him. He does need them too, as he shivers now the temp had dropped :(

I managed to find a pic of my new egg cup online, so I dont have to take one. I went to the Frankfurt Christmas markets with my Mom and Joe. I have to wrap up extra warm, as my chest was not too good that day...... but Christmas markets are a tradition every year. Anyway, we ate fried mushrooms and potatos and my mom got me this funky Guinea Pig egg cup... ha :)

Anyway, I must head off, I have numerous things to go collect from the doctors and I have more pressies to wrap, a few more cards to send, forms to fill in and stufffff.

I have been ill and off work now for just over a week.
It started off with a chest infection and bad asthma. The doctor gave me antibiotics and steroid tablets.
The antibiotics were not working and I had coughed up blood, so I went back to the doctors and he gave me stronger antibiotics, put me on a nebuliser and sent me to the hospital for a chest Xray. This was on Thursday.
Then by Monday I was still feeling no better so I returned to the doctors. He decided that I needed to be admitted into hospital. So of I was taken to the hospital again.
Then off to a different hosptial on Tuesday to see a specialist who doubled up on my antibiotics again and gave me some new tablets for my asthma.
They want to see me back in a certain amount of weeks and they have booked me in for a CT scan of my lungs and some more breathing tests.
They think there may be a problem with my smaller airways, which is why nothing showed up on the Xrays.

Anyway, still pretty bunged up with chest infection.

We are supposed to be going to Paris for 2 nights at the end of the week. I hope it happens.
We have someone to feed the rabbits and guinea pigs and we have Swayze booked into a kennels.
While I have been in hospital, Swayze has managed to rub up all the skin on his neck. It is very sore and it stings him :( So, even though I am still ill, I have had to go to the Vets today to get him some cream and antibiotics. Errgh.

Im back in bed now though and I have a headache. Also I have had a horrble stomach upset, which I think is because of the strong antibiotics :(

So, the last thing I wrote about was the fact that we were rescuing a dog.... well, we got him.

We collected him on the 9th of August, which was the day after we got back from our holiday, so I shall tell you a little about our holiday first :)

We went to NewQuay in Wales for a week in August. We had beautiful weather. The first day was a bit grey and rainy but after that the sun was shining every day :)

The only bad thing about the holiday, was that it was simply too short. We could have done with 2 weeks.... not just one. We had a lovely time though :)

We had a long drive home with him on the 9th of August. It took us nearly three hours to get home.

At first, he was weeing in the kitchen, barking at EVERYONE on walks and generally seemed scared of most things on walks.

Now, he is walked at least twice a day, every day. He wee's and poops on his walks only. He now only barks at certain things that still seem to make him uneasy, such as bicycles and joggers. He is generally ok walking past people and seems fine with other dogs.

I have had to book him into kennels for 4 days this month and I am dreading leaving him :( I really wish I could take him with us but we are going to Paris! I have purchased him a really cosy bed to take into kennels with him, I will also give him one of my tshirts, as whenever I go out, he curls up in a piece of my clothing. I will also be getting him a new jumper to keep him warm while he is there.

I have joined a new forum, which is all about Chinese Crested dogs. IT is called 'chinesecrestedcrush'. Its pretty cool, and I have learnt alot from the people there.

Ok, next, we have had a BIG rabbit enclosure built for our buns who are now one big bonded group.

Before I show you pics of that, I would like to remember our little Pumpkin bunny, who very sadly passed away from Cancer a few months ago :(

Anyway, I must go now. I am currently in bed with a nasty chest infection! I need to try and get some more sleep.

So, the last time I posted was March. This is literally the next chance I have had to sit down a write proper blog!! Busy, busy, busy.

So, I started the new job. It is generally going really well. All jobs have their ups and downs. I get along with the people there. They are nice and friendly. I have started getting along really well with some of them, which is nice, as I never really felt like I fitted in at the last place.

I have just done a first aid course at college, which is something I have to do for the VN course. I am now a qualified first aider :) I actually feel really good that I can do it.

College starts again in September, which is not very far away at all now. I am looking forward to it, as it brings me closer to getting qualified. Once I am qualified, I will feel so much more free :) We will be able to move anywhere, work anywhere :) I'd love to live near to the sea :)

So, since I last posted, we fostered a stray cat, which we called 'Satchmo'. He arrived at work with the RSPCA, as he was injured and needed his tail amputating. While he was with us, we got the tail amputated, got him neutered and vaccinated. Joe and I took him home to look after him but he could not stay with us, as he started attacking the rabbits!!! We found him a lovely new home at Joe's Dad's house, which is just around the corner. He is a very loving cat and I am so glad he is still 'in the family', as I would really miss him if he went to a stranger!!

It has also been my 25th birthday. Joe and I went to the Safari Park for the day. It was a really sunny day. We hand fed giraffe's, and touched all sorts of weird animals :) Look at our pictures -

I think you can see from the photos what a lovely day it was :) I really enjoyed it.

We are now adopting a dog!! We have been to visit him. He is currently 11 months old and he will be 1year when we collect him in August. He is a Chinese Crested that needed re-homing due to one of the older dogs in the family not liking him. This was stressing out the old chihuahua and the owners decided that it would be best to re-home the Crested.

We are calling him 'Swayze', after Patrick Swayze :) Hehe. I am going to make him a tshirt that says 'No one puts Swayze in the corner'!! How silly.

I cannot wait to collect him.

We are going to do agility classes with him. Yey.

Since I last wrote, so many things have changed.

I have a new job at a Veterinary practise which I think will suit me alot more than my existing practise. I start in a few weeks time. I cannot wait.

We have two more rabbits but also lost two of our beautiful guinea pigs :(

We almost have our finances in order. Once and for all.

First of all..... photos.....

Our first new bun.... Pumpkin. Pumpkin was bought into work. A lady came in and said that her neighbours had moved away and they noticed that something was still moving in the hutch. They had just left their rabbit to die in the hutch. By the time the neighbours had noticed her, she had no food or water and the bottom of the hutch was just completely wet with urine and poo.

We took her off the lady and we spayed/neutered her while she was with us. We found a lump whilst the operation was going on. We do not know what it was but she is now doing very well at our home. Her fur has come on really well. She is now nice and silky and the fur is even. She currently has a little infection/cold.... she is on antibiotics.

Pumpkin now lives happily with her boyfriend Slush Bunny (I will come to him next).

Slush Bunny was our second recent arrival. Slush Bunny was another abandoned bun. He was left in a waste land field. Luckily a friendly client and their dog found him whilst on a walk. The also arrived at the surgery with him and asked us to take him off them. They explained where he had been found. He was with us for a week and no one claimed him. We even thought we had found a home for him a few times.... then the prospective owners had a look at him and none of them wanted him :( We had to castrate him and fix his teeth. They were in a big mess. Slush Bunny came home with me for Christmas, as he still had not found a home and we were going to be closed over Christmas. As you can guess, he stayed with us. When we realised him and Pumpkin were getting along we could not separate them. It was fate that these two abandoned buns found each other.

Their official names are Pumpkin and Slush Bunny but we occasionally like to call them Rhubarb and Custard..... the Rhubarb theme tune really goes well with Slush Bun.

I may of mentioned this last time but in August we very sadly lost our little Lola pig.

(Lola is the ginger and white pig on the right). We were obviously very sad indeed to lose Lola.... Lola had been our first pet (follow closely by Jose - on the left). Lola was the pig we chose first in the pet shop. We then chose her a friend. Her sister Jose now lives on her own.

Yesterday we lost our beautiful Darcy pig.

Darcy

I had struggled with Darcy for around six weeks. She lost alot of weight as she had stopped eating. I had to hand feed her every day. She kept on trying to eat on her own but was not strong enough. She would pick bits of food up and then spit them out. We did Xrays, Ultrasound scan, tested urine sample, blood sample, clipped her teeth and nothing seemed to work. I managed to get her to put weight back on but then she lost it again and slowly got worse. I woke up yesterday morning and she was having trouble breathing. I took her straight to work, as we both knew that she had given up and she was now suffering.

During the six weeks we bonded SO much. She was with me most of the time. If I did have to leave her, she would greet me when I arrived back, by literally jumping at me. I'd put my hands out and she would walk into them. I would put her on the floor or the bed for a run around.... she'd run around and then run straight to me and curl up on my kne and go to sleep. When she was on the bed, she would squeeze under the duvet and curl up on my chest and relax. I miss her so much. I cried for ages yesterday.

When Lola dies, we had her individually cremated and the ashes came back in a little wooden photo box, which we obviously put a Lola photo in. We are having the same done for Darcy.

We also went out yesterday and purchased a little tree to remember her by. It is going to be the Lola and Darcy tree. It is a dwarf weeping willow tree. I thought the little white fluffy catkins on the tree reminded me of Darcy.

So, on Saturday the 28th of Feb I attended the Rabbit Welfare Association's annual conference. There were six lectures during the day. The lectures were on - coccidiosis, E.Cuniculi, Nerological conditions, Behaviour, Anaesthesia and Lumps and Bumps. We were given free samples of hay and other rabbit foods etc. We had food and drink (for humans) supplied throughout the day. There were also some stalls where you could buy bits and pieces. I purchased a 'make mine chocolate' charity badge, a book, some willow sticks. It was a really great day. I will be definately going back next year.

Zero and I were in the kitchen together today. He is becoming so much more confident. He hopped around me quite confidently and I was so so pleased with his progress. He was trying to nudge my knee out of the way. Here he is....

3 Months since my last blog :(

So, it has been three months since my last blog. I never meant to leave it so long, I have just been so so busy. Lots has happened since August.

My job is going really well. I am enjoying it very much and I feel like I am progressing alot. College is going well too. I was getting a little behind with my work, due to the fact that I am working so many hours but I managed to pull it back. I handed in my first project last week and we also had an end of module exam. I passed :) You needed 65% to pass and I got 74%. I was very pleased. I did want to get more than that but I was pleased with 74% as I know how hard I have been finding fitting in all my work.

I do not have many pictures from work except one of some stitches :) Have a look -

I have also gone blonde! I had a really down couple of months, I have been ill alot with colds and flu, I was getting exhausted from the hours at work. I was entering the house after work and going straight to bed. I was not even putting any make-up on before work. My eyes had dark patches under them and I just felt rough. I went to have my hair done, as I decided a change was in order, and I came away looking like this -

I really do prefer it :) Since then, I have been applying my make-up again and feeling better about myself. Now I just have to start feeling better about my body. I think a healthy eating diet is in order and maybe some exercise. I don't know where to fit in the exercise though, as I work mon and tues 8am until 7pm, wed is a full day at college, thurs and fri 8am until 7pm and every other sat morning! It is alot. I am thinking of getting myself an exercise bike for home. I think thats about the only thing I will have time to fit in.

We have aquired a new bunny :) His name is Zero. He is so so so scared. I do not know what to do with him. We are going to move him into our bedroom and see If we can make him get used to us. He was a rescue bunny. He was 5 months old when we got him and he had never had a home and never been handled at all. We can barely get near him. He is so beautiful though :(

I shall just have to let you know how it all goes. I am determined to make him happy and not scared!

Pearl and I have bonded alot more. She now comes and sits on the bed. She actually curls up with me and she does not mind being picked up. Major improvements :)

Lila Rabbits new look.

I was not happy with Lila-Rabbits look, so I sanded her face again and applied black paint to her eyelids, which you cannot really see on this picture. I also applied some dainty red lips. She has a fringe too :) Simple things made her look 100% better.

I did not manage to post many of her before I had my three month break from VOX.

So, recently Joe's Dad took us out to buy Joe some new clothes. He had decided that Joe looked scruffy and needed some clothing :) We walked away from the shops with not one but TWO new coats, trousers, two shirts, shoes and more. He looks lovely in his new clothes :)

Yesterday we had a nice day. We popped to Ikea to get a few bits and pieces for our house. We have been planning this for a long time but money has been an issue. Money still is an issue really but we managed to set a little aside this month. We got new flooring from BandQ first. We also got white paint for the walls. We then went to Ikea and got some rugs, plantpots, photo frames, and found our sofa (which we are going back to get in a couple of days time) - we needed to borrow a bigger car to fit it in.

We also got a display cabinet for our bits and pieces :)

We then went to Merry Hill shopping centre to get me some new clothing. We got a pair of red heart earrings, a head band, a silky green dress, belt, shoes, bag and a tshirt. It only came to £80. We thought that was really good considering how much I got.

We are getting closer to Christmas now and I am already thinking about where to put the Christmas tree decorations. I think the decorating and the smells are my favorite part of Christmas. We have a Crabtree and Evelyn christmas room spray, Christmas oil to burn on the oil burner and lots of Christmas scented tea lights. I love it :) As soon as it all goes up, I shall take some pics. I think we are going to put up the tree around the 14th of December. We usually like to have it up earlier than that, usually the first day of December but I have the week commencing Monday the 8th off work, so I think it shall go up during that week some time, so it maybe nearer the 8th :)

Anyway, I have some work to do. We are laying our new floor today and tomorrow :) Then getting the sofa to put on it on Tuesday :) Cant wait :) We still need to finish stripping and painting the walls though. Errgh. I hate that part of the job!
